UPSC announced the Geologists Examination 2012 results

Geologists Exam 2012 results declared
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the results of the Geologists Examination 2012, based on the written examination held by it in December last year and the personality test conducted in August this year.

Accordingly, it has released the lists, in order of merit, of candidates who have been recommended for appointment to various posts in Category I and Category II.

Category I includes posts in the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Ministry of Mines;

  • Geologist, Group A.
  • Asstt. Geologists Grade-I Group B.

Category II includes posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources;

  • Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist B), Group A.
  • Assistant Hydrogeologist, Group B.

An official press release said appointment to the posts under the two categories shall be made by the Government in accordance of the merit position, preferences exercised by the candidate and the number of vacancies.

It said there were 50 vacancies for posts of Geologist, Group A in GSI, incuding 10 vacancies reserved for partial hearing impaired candidates. These incude 27 vacancies in General, 14 in Other Backward Classes (OBCs), 6 in Scheduled Castes (SCs) and 3 in Scheduled Tribes (STs) categories.

Similarly, there 50 vacancies for the posts of Assistant Geologists Grade-I Group B in GSI, including 2 vacancies reserved for partial hearing impaired candidates. These include 27 vacancies in General, 13 in OBC, 7 in SC and 3 in ST categories.

There are three vacancies for Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) Group A in the Central Ground Water Board, including one reserved for partial hearing impairment candidate. These include two vacancies in General and one in SC categories.

There are 13 vacancies for the positions of Assistant Hydrogeologists, Group B. These include seven in General, two in OBC, two in SC and two in ST categories.

The total number of candidates recommended for appointment to Category I, that is, for Geologist, Group A and Asstt. Geologists Grade-I Group B is 89 , which includes 43 General, 27 OBC, 13 SC and 6 ST category candidates. No candidate has qualified under PH category.

The total number of candidates recommended for appointment to Category II for Jr. Hydrogeologists ( Scientist B) Group A and Assistant Hydrogeologists Group B are 15 , which include 8 General, 2 OBC, 3 SC and 2 ST category candidates.

For Category I posts, 07 OBC, 04 SC and Nil ST candidates have qualified on their own merit (General standards) without availing any relaxation and therefore, in accordance with Rules 14(4) & 14(5) of the examination, Commission shall maintain a Reserve List of 22 candidates (11 General, 07 OBC and 04 SC candidates) ranking in order of merit below the last recommended candidate under each category.

For Category-II posts, only 01 SC candidate has qualified on General standards without availing any relaxation and therefore a Reserve List of 02 candidates ( 01 General and 01 SC candidates ) shall be maintained by the Commission for Category-II in order of merit below the last recommended candidate under each category.

UPSC has a 'Facilitation Counter' near Examination Hall in its campus. Candidates can obtain any information/clarification regarding their examination/ recruitment on the working day between 10.00 hrs. to 17.00 hrs in person or over telephone nos. 011-23385271 / 23381125. Result will also be available on the UPSC web site i.e. www.upsc.gov.in.
