Odisha to introduce SET for Lecturers
Odisha State government decided to introduce State Eligibility Test (SET) for appointment of Lecturers from 2014.

The test will ensure that only qualified lecturers are appointed in government colleges.

 

The state higher education department will soon get the permission from the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi to introduce SET.

When UGC gives permission, Higher education department will plan on conducting the test process.

In fact, states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra and West Bengal had their own Eligibility Test.

If UGC approves the proposal, state will follow the other states procedure of conducting the test as per the UGC guidelines.

State government decided to appoint 800 vacant lecturer posts in 97 government colleges in Odisha.

SET test is conducted for determining eligibility for Lectureship in various universities/ colleges/ institutions in Odisha State.

Candidates who qualify for SET will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of lecturers of the concerned universities/ colleges/ institutions in Odisha State.
