RGU to introduce semester system
Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) has introduced semester system in undergraduate courses in Science, Commerce and Mass Communication from the current academic session.

Vice Chancellor of the Central varsity Professor Tamo Mibang expressed hope that implementation of semester system in under graduate courses would immensely benefit the students of the state.

Mibang informed that the university had started the semester system on experimental basis in phased manner and other disciplines would be covered in the next phases.

A workshop on semester system in BSc courses was organized by Life Science department of the University at its Bio-Informatics Centre yesterday.

"The workshop will make the college teachers acquainted with strategies and modalities of the semester program in undergraduate courses of the university, and will help the colleges to run the course smoothly and successfully," Dean and Faculty of Life Sciences professor D N Das said while explaining the objective of the workshop, university sources said here today.

Professor A K Das of Botany department while reviewing various benefits of semester system in different universities of India said that it would encourage involvement of more students in teaching and learning process than the traditional annual system of courses.
