OU issued AP.SET 2013 notification on July 01, 2013. The test will be held in 12 regional centres.
As many as 60,000 students applied for the exam.
The AP.SET (Andhra Pradesh - State Eligibility Test) is based on the pattern of the National Eligibility Test (CSIR/UGC-NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR.
APSET member secretary Prof B Rajeshwar Reddy told that they received 1,17,795 applications last year which was conducted for 24 subjects.
The last date for submission of applications is July 26. Applications will be accepted with a fine of Rs. 100 till July 31, and Rs. 200 till August 5.
The UGC had permitted the test in five new subjects this year. Of the 1.17 lakh who took last year's examination, about 8,000 cleared it.
Every year Osmania University conducts Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (AP. SET) for candidates besides possessing minimum academic qualifications are required to qualify in a comprehensive test specifically conducted for the purpose of obtaining eligibility for appointment as Lecturers/Assistant Professors.
The State Eligibility Test (SET) is based on the pattern of the National Eligibility Test (CSIR/UGCNET) conducted by UGC/CSIR. The State Governments and Union Territories, who wish to conduct the SET are supposed to obtain accreditation from UGC from time to time.
Qualification in APSET is mandatory for candidates seeking employment as Assistant Professors in universities, colleges and other educational institutions.
However, candidates who have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree are exempt from the requirement.
