IIM Raipur and Bangalore signs MoU on Research Programmes

IIM Raipur and IIM Bangalore Tie-up
IIM Raipur has tied-up with IIM Bangalore on its doctoral programmes and research initiatives. The main focus is on a move to maximise the use of available IIM resources and countering faculty shortage in the area of management research.

As a part of this programme, the students of IIM Raipur under doctoral courses will be studying the advanced courses at IIM Bangalore, which as a senior research institute, is known for its academic rigour and highest quality research over decades.

According to the sources from IIM Raipur, students pursuing Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) at IIM Raipur will spend time at IIM Bangalore campus and attend advanced courses in research. The basic courses, however, will be taught at IIM Raipur campus itself.

This initiative taken by IIM Raipur aims at creating new horizons for the institute in the field of research.

An official from the IIM Raipur said "This endeavour will provide opportunities to the young scholars to engage in contemporary research in emerging areas and to benefit from the rich resources and collaborative environment at IIM Bangalore".

He further added that "The learning and research opportunity at IIM Bangalore will provide our students a platform to gain insights into some advanced specialized courses in their areas of research".

According to the institute, the collaboration is also a part of institute's initiative to counter faculty shortage in management education. "Indian Institute of Management Raipur as a responsible institution has decided to take measurable steps in this direction. It will also help us to increase intake of students in doctoral programs," the official said.

Established in the year 2010, the Institute had launched its first Fellowship Program in Management (FPM) in the academic year 2012-2013. The FPM at IIM Raipur is a full-time doctoral programme that offers research scholars opportunities for advanced studies and research in different areas of ‘management'. The Programme aims to prepare research scholars for careers in teaching and research in management studies and in related disciplines.

The institute, in its pursuit of building a research based culture at the campus, is also exploring similar initiative with IIM Calcutta.
