AIIMS Bhubaneswar to start health services from August

Odisha: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar is all set to start health services for the commoners from the month of August, 2013. At the first phase 75 beds will be provided in five specialised departments with 15 beds for each department respectively.

 

Dr. Ashok Mohapatra, Director, Bhubaneshwar AIIMS said "Initially we have commissioned five specialised departments like Cancer, Surgery, Medicine, Gynaecology and Eye. Each department has been added with 15 beds. We are preparing to inaugurate it on August 15."

According to sources, in the primary stage AIIMS started these five departments which used to gather more number of patients than others and later on health services were extended to other departments. There would be 50 general beds, 12 casual, 10 ICUs and three recovering beds. These units are equipped with all the modern treatment facilities like other AIIMS in the country.

"Apart from five departments 10 seated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is also ready for imparting service. We are yet to finalise the name for the guests for the inaugural function. There are also formalities are yet to be done for this purpose. So we are expecting on the eve of Independence day the newly commissioned five departments will be dedicated towards public service," Mohapatra added.

AIIMS has opened its Out Patients Department (OPD) for two departments, dental and ophthalmology.
