Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Bangalore added 416 MBBS seats in the government quota. More seats are likely to be expected.
KEA wants more 287 medical seats needed to be added in next 2-3 days. ESIC, Gujbarga medical colleges needs more 61 seats. The total number of seats could go up to 2,442 in 36 medical colleges. However, of these, 45 are under litigation.
Karnatala Medical Education minister, Sharan Prakash Patil sais, "According to the MCI rules, KEA will add these new seats to upcoming medical counseling / Seat selection process. There is no need to panic. There is sufficient time to enter choices,"
Higher Education minister, R V Deshpande said, "ComedK has postponed the last date to surrender seats. We have also requested them to postpone the second round of counseling after we conduct,"
"We've checked with ComedK on the number of students who took seats there. For medical, 348 students confirmed their seats and 310 took provisional seats. Of those confirmed, 30 are Karnataka students. In dental, only two Karnataka students of 254 have confirmed, and 70 of the 269 who took provisional seats are Kannadigas," said Deshpande.
