Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers PG Diploma in Sustainability Sciences programme for the academic year 2013-14.

The programme is offered in English medium and the minimum duration of the programme is one year. The students have the flexibility to complete the programme in four years.

About PG Diploma:
The PG Diploma in Sustainability Science is one of the online programmes started under the Sustainability Science Discipline of the University with an objective to sensitize and involve each and every citizen in the process of sustainable growth and development.

The programme mainly focuses on the genesis and principles of sustainable development, its tools, implementation and assessment in a holistic way. The basics of natural resource management, ecological economics, global and local efforts for sustainable development through good governance, law and policy are integrated in an academic fashion so that students will be able to understand the tools and techniques in developing and implementing sustainable development projects.

The programme also takes care of the rising concerns of sustainable development and climate change, implementation gaps of policy and planning, India's National Action Plan against Climate Change and India's commitment to Sustainable Development. The programme will equip the learners to participate in successful implementation of projects towards sustainable development.

Who can apply:

  • Graduates in any discipline can apply for this programme.
  • Those who are working as scientist, policy makers, planners, administrators and grass root activist in different governmental and non-governmental sectors will get better benefit from this.

Programme fee:
The programme fee is Rs. 7000/- and the students can pay it through either credit card or demand draft (in favour of IGNOU, payable at Delhi).
