Delhi University hits record with highest of 2.5 lakh applications

DU breaks record with 2.5 lakh applicant
The counters are closed. Yes, Delhi University on Wednesday closed the Offline Admissions windows at 4pm and Online submission ended at midnight.

It is noted that, this year the Delhi University has hit the highest records with 2.5lkah applications. The total number of registrations online and off including all categories was a whopping 2,49,661, over a lakh more than 2012's record number-1.47 lakh. A total of 1,26,704 registrations were completed offline and 1,22,957 online.

The Dean of Students' Welfare J M Khurana said "The online registration has tripled this year (200% increase). The total number of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Persons with Disability (SC/ST/PwD) applicants had also seen a massive-"more than 100%"-increase since last year when 23,000 had enrolled. This year, there were 47,484 SC/ST/PwD applicants."

On Wednesday alone DU had received 13,038 applications but despite that crowds at the centres for registration remained less. Now, the applicants have moved on to colleges with inquiries on admissions into Extracurricular activities and sports quota admissions (ECA).

The sale of the ECA forms started on June 5, and about 450 forms have been sold.

Though it was the last day, DU was surprised to see the crowd and appreciated the sale of forms. According to the sources, general category/other backward classes (Gen/OBC), DU sold 3,895 forms and 950 to SC/ST/PwD applicants.
