This controversy is now questioning the fate of all the 60 students who have been admitted under Xavier University, which has not yet started functioning.
Students are extremely confused about their future. A student says "There is a lot of confusion and we do not know who will give us the Final Degree- if it is the XIMB or the Xavier University. Though the course is same the name varies from PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) and MBA (Master of Business Administration)."
According to the sources, it is found that after Xavier University which had passed the bill in May 2013, XIMB authorities had admitted 60 students in MBA which has not even taken the approval from the UGC (University Grants Commission).
The most shocking news was that, nor the University is approved by the UGC, nor it has any Academic Council.
A senior official from XIMB said "As far as teaching is concerned, there is no difference between PGDM and MBA. But for admission of students and giving certificates the rules and norms are different for a university and for an institute. As a result, there may be problems for students if these norms are not followed properly,"
The XIMB dean, Biswa Swarup Misra said "There is no cause for worry. There will be no problem for students of MBA under Xavier University as XIMB is also a part of the University now. Since we have existing infrastructure in Management we decided to start the MBA course under the Xavier University."
"It was a conscious decision, and there will be no disparity between the students of both (MBA and PGDM) courses at any cause", he added.
Well, it is still confusion whether the UGC shall grant permission for Xavier University to grant degrees from its co-institute XIMB or not. Keep visiting for more updates.
