Disclosing this to media persons during a press conference at the office of AMSU here today, Manjit Sarangthem, Secretary of HRD, AMSU, stated that one Kangleipak Luwang, a student of Kangleipak Modern School, Singda was declared failed in the HSLC exam-2013.When his mark sheet was checked, he was found to have scored 99 marks out of 100 in Mathematics and 91 marks out of 100 in Science, but failed in Social Science.
However, when the parents of Kangleipakm Luwang submitted an application to BSEM requesting for re-check of the answer scripts of the student, it was found that he had passed in Social Science.
Altogether, he had scored 415 marks and was in the first division, Manjit informed. He further stated that another eight students who were declared failed also submitted an application for re-checking their answer scripts. Among them, seven students found to have passed the exam, three of them in first division and five others in second division. Consequently, BSEM issued a corrigendum and eight of them were later declared passed, Manjit recalled.
Observing that the big blunder made by BSEM could have destroyed the career of the students, the student leader demanded the State Government to take up appropriate actions against BSEM.
One of the parents of a student, who has been found to have cleared the exam informed after being suspicious on how a student who scored high marks in some subjects could have failed in the exam, a written complaint was submitted to BSEM.
Accordingly, the answer scripts were allowed to be rechecked and it was found that the student has passed in the exam.
