Courses offered are as followin:
a) M.Sc in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation :
The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (specialisation/ domain: Geoinformatics) is offered within the framework of Joint Education Programme (JEP) of the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) and the Faculty of Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente (UT), The Netherlands.
The course is of 18 months duration. Students follow part of the course at IIRS (Modules 1-11 and 16-23, i.e. 15 months) and a part at the Faculty ITC, The Netherlands (Modules 12-15, i.e. 3 months). This is an accelerated course of 18 months with a study load (118 ECTS or European Credits) that would normally take two years to complete.
Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
A candidates must have M.Sc./ M.Tech. Degree in Physics/ Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics/ Statistics/ Geophysics/ Meteorology/ Oceanography/ Geology/ Agriculture/ Geography/ Urban and Regional Planning/ Remote Sensing or any Natural/ Environmental Sciences, OR B.E./ B.Tech. in Civil Engineering/ Electronics and Communication/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/ IT/ Agricultural Engineering/ Geoinformatics, OR B.Sc. (4 years) in Agriculture/ Forestry or equivalent, OR MCA (with B.Sc. Degree), OR M.Sc. in IT.
The admission in M.Sc. course is based on a written test (for self-financed candidates), interview (for self-financed as well as Government-sponsored candidates), academic performance and experience.
b) M.Sc In Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk Management :
he institute offers prestigious program in Geoinformatics for Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk Management (GI-NHDRM) with PG Diploma and Master's degree (M. Sc.) from the year 2001 and 2003 respectively in collaboration with the Faculty of Geo- Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), University of Twente, The Netherlands. The M.Sc. degree is awarded by ITC, the Netherlands and IIRS under JEP. This programme has 12 months of course work and 6 months of projects. The 12 months of course work has two components: 9 months in IIRS and 3 months in ITC for advance modules.
2. Ph. D. Programmes at IIRS:
The institute is recognized as a research centre of Forest Research Institute University Dehradun. Geoinformatics technology and its applications are listed subjects for Ph.D. degree. The institute is also affiliated to Pune University, Pune in eight disciplines. The institute is also recognized by HNB Garhwal University, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar to carry out research leading to Ph.D. Some of the IIRS faculty members have also been awarded Ph. D. degree from Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam.
3. M.Tech in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System:
IIRS is affiliated to the Andhra University, which recognizes our 10 months PG diploma Course in RS and GIS as course work for carrying out dissertation towards the award of M. Tech. Degree by Andhra University as per norms laid down in the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IIRS and Andhra University.

Duration: 2 years- From August 20, 2013 to August 14, 2015.
Eligibility Criteria: The admission for M.Tech course is based on the Entrance Test and interview. The candidates sponsored govt.organizations and GATE qualified candidates with valid GATE scores are exempted from Entrance test. However, they are required to attend the Interview.

- For Indian Self Financed Candidates: Rs.1,44,000 + Rs. 20,000 (Andhra University Registration fee)
- For Foreign Candidates: $ 14,400 + $ 250 (Andhra University Registration fee)
