Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) provides online registration for Gujarat State Engineering courses admissions commencing in the session 2013-14.
Many students and parents seemed confused about the 'merit list' while many others faced problems filling in the PIN number and other details.
"The PIN numbers are very lightly printed and not easy to read. So it's taking us longer to fill in all the details," said Kumar Satyam of Kendriya Vidyalaya, CRPF, Gandhinagar.
The first step in the admission process is online registration at the ACPC building after which document verification is done.
Many students, who had taken their Class 12 board exams in Gujarati medium, faced difficulty in filling the online form. "I had to take the help of teachers here as all the instructions in the online form are in English," said Birju Makadiya of Junagadh. Makadiya wants to become a rubber engineer as his father has a rubber business.
Students who have obtained PIN number from the bank after paying the desired fee of Rs 350 will have to log onto www.gujacpc.nic.in to fill in the form. The process of filing of online application forms will continue till June 5.
There are 71 helpline centres across Gujarat including seven in Ahmedabad to help students fill in their application forms. Till now, the banks have sold more than 50,000 PIN numbers on behalf of Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC).
Until last year, the merit list for admission to engineering and pharmacy colleges was conducted on the basis of the GujCET score and the Class 12 marks. Also, there was a fixed quota for CBSE students in Gujarat and for students from outside Gujarat. This year there will be one common merit list based on JEE score and Class 12 marks.
