Gujarat Based Komal- The only Women to crack UPSC 2013 Examination

The only Women to crack UPSC 2013 Exam
Thirty-two-year-old Komal Ganatra from Gujarat is the only woman from state to have cracked the UPSC exam this year. After four, attempts, the hard work has finally paid off. With a 591 ranking on the national merit list, she is an inspiration.

But what makes Komal's achievement even more valuable is her spirit to make a difference. Within a fortnight of her marriage to one Shailesh Popat in 2008, she was thrown out by her in-laws for not paying dowry. When all attempts to get her husband booked failed, Komal decided to set things right for herself.

"The worst was the social boycott. That was difficult. Now this has happened, and it is a great pleasure," Komal said.

"I wish that she does a lot of good work, and I wish that she services the society," her mother said. "She has struggled a lot. Now I feel she should serve the society as much as she can," her father Pravin Ganatra said.

This woman, who has overcome a lot of hardships, advises aspiring civil servants to work hard. "To achieve something, you just have to work hard," she says.

And that is what Komal Ganatra aims to do - keep working to serve society and help people around her. She has proved herself and is inspiring women to all girls across India who aspire to join the UPSC services.

Oneindia Education Congratulates Komal Ganatra for her success and wishes ALL THE VERY BEST.
