This year too, girls swept clean the top slots in both the exams held for classes 10 and 12. Bhuvaniya Vijay, a student of class 12 at St Joseph's Academy in Dehradun, was the overall topper with a score of 99%. The spot for class 10 topper was a tie between three girls - all from Maharashtra.
Anika Aggarwal and Simran Khanuja, students of Pune's St Mary's School, and Mansi Arora from Mumbai's Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School scored 98.4 per cent.
In the NCR also girls did better than the boys. Of the 1,086 girls who appeared for the ICSE examinations, 1,082 cleared it, while of the 1,315 boys only 1,295 passed. In the ISC exam, 18 boys failed the examinations as compared to five girls.
Two girls with 98.75 per cent topped the ISC exam. The position was shared by Shivali Malhotra and Bhavya Kulsheshtra from Shri Ram School Aravali, Gurgaon. Shivanshu Chaudhary from Holy Angel Public School, Sahibabad, who scored a 97.5 per cent topped Class 10 exams.
Chennai girl comes 3rd in ISC board exam: While the overall pass percentage in the Class 10 (ICSE) exam was 98.2% and 95.15% in Class 12 exam (ISC), the pass rate in the southern region was 99.66% and 98.28% respectively. The third rank was bagged by Apeksha Avinash Somalinga from Sishya in Chennai. She secured 98.5%, and full marks in mathematics and computer science.
But students from the NCR performed better than the nation as the region's pass percentage stood at 99% as compared to the 98.2 % for India and abroad in ISCE; for ISC, Delhi's pass mark was 97.69 % as compared to 95.15% for India and abroad.
