2 lakh applications sold for Tamil Nadu Engineering admissions

Anna University's engineering admissions gets massive response from the students in Tamil Nadu. Till now 2 lakh application forms sold out.

University officials expect at least 2 lakh seats to be made available for admission through the single window counselling system as government quota seats this year.

A total of 2,07,338 applications has been purchased from the students. Around 88,000 applications were sold on Day 1 of registration.

Applications are available till May 20, 2013.

But officials of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions assure there is no cause for worry as eight new engineering colleges are expected to get approval and many existing colleges have applied for additional intake.

Anna University, Chennai invites application for admissions for the first year B. E. / B. Tech. Degree Courses to the University Departments / University Colleges, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by the Self - Financing Engineering Colleges in the State.

Tamil Nadu Education Minister P Palaniappan said that CBSE students can apply for Tamil Nadu Engineering admissions without their class 12 results.

Meanwhile, based on the sale of application forms for undergraduate medical courses in the state, around seven candidates will be vying for one MBBS / BDS seat this year. By Monday evening, medical and dental colleges across the state had sold more than 24,000 application forms for 3,655 seats.

The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University also started issuing application forms for admission to four courses offered by colleges under the university. At the end of the first day, more than 450 forms were sold by Madras Veterinary College in Vepery.
