New Medical board To Set up in Maharasht
The Government of State Maharashtra on Wednesday approved the proposal which was held in order to set up a nursing and paramedical education board, which will take policy decisions regarding curriculum of courses in these streams.

The proposal was cleared by the state Cabinet, which met in Mumbai. The board will also take decisions on textbooks and their development, guidelines and laying down conditions for admissions, among other issues, official sources said.

Similarly, the Cabinet also decided to approve setting up of an agriculture university at Golewada in Hingoli district in Marathwada region.

Sixty-five posts will be created, incurring a cost of Rs 38.65 crore, at the varsity which will have an in-take capacity of 60 students. The decision will encourage youth from Hingoli district to take up agriculture-related business ventures, Chief Minister's Office said.

The medical education system in Maharashtra is viewed as being stagnant. The respondents emphasized an urgent need for educational reforms, which should include better compensation for teachers, sharing of facilities between government and private medical colleges, and improved efficiency of the Medical Council of India. In the long run, a public-private mix with sharing of resources may be a plausible solution.
