Career Course From IIJ, Mumbai
One of the ways to bridge the manpower gap in the gem and jewellery industry is by emphasising on the need for formal education for people working in the industry. Such training programs not only focus on the technical education required but also on soft skills and customer relationship management.

The Indian Institute of Jewellery is one of the few institutes in the APAC region that offers international standard education in manufacturing, design, CAD, gemmology and business. Backed by Modern India Enterprises, IIJ is a leading professional institute, recognized and accepted by the jewellery Industry for quality training, state-of-the art infrastructure and industry-relevant curriculum.

The Indian Institute of Jewellery offers an exceptional and comprehensive hands-on program. This program, called the Indian Institute of Jewellery Professional program (IIJP), offers intense individual instructions and specialization in any one field; manufacturing, designing or gemmology.

This program has been designed to give students a step-by-step, yet thorough knowledge of metal art, jewellery design and gemstones depending on their choice of specialisation.

Admissions are now open for the June 2013 batch with minimum qualification required being SSC or HSC.

The sector is expected to register a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13 per cent during 2011-2013, according to a report on Indian Gems and Jewellery Market Forecast to 2013.

It is evident that the industry is huge; however, for it to truly flourish, it is important to address the unorganised manpower issue and such courses would come handy to help the industry grow.
