A Supreme Court ruling earlier this year directed all states to complete engineering admissions by July 30 and said classes should begin on August 01, 2013.
Anna University conducts Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA 2013) entrance test for admission to engineering courses across the state.
Anna University, co-ordinating agency for the single window counselling system of admission for engineering courses, will start issuing application forms for taking part in the counselling session from May 4 to 20. Class 12 state board exam results are expected between May 6 and 10.
Secretary of the Tamil Nadu engineering admissions body V Rhymend Uthariaraj said 2.5 lakh applications available now, and that more would be printed if need arises. The applications will be issued at centres across the state, though the single window counselling process will take place only in Chennai.
Academics said that the tight schedule and early start to the academic year will prevent students from leaving their footprint on multiple campuses. "Though the choice of which institution students can join should be left to them, this schedule will ensure that they have more clarity on where they can purse their studies," said the head of an engineering institution.
The online registration for TNEA 2013 will begins from May 04, 2013. Candidates have to apply online for TNEA 2013 test.
The last date for the submission of application forms is May 20. Students will be assigned random numbers on June 5 and the rank list will be published on June 12.
TNEA 2013 counseling will begin from June 21, 2013, and will complete on July 30, 2013.
