National eligibility-cum-entrance test (NEET) is being held for the first time on May 5, 2013 across the country for centralized admissions to Medical & Dental courses all over India.

Meanwhile, Department of Technical Education (DTE), Goa conducts Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET 2013) on May 08, 2013 for admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses in Goa.

The scores of aspirants for medical and dental colleges will have to be sent to Delhi for drawing up of a merit list and Goa will have to keep pace to meet the deadline.

Goa Board official said, "We are expecting the compilation of the final Class XII results to be over by the last week of April itself. The Goa Common Entrance Test will be held on May 8. So, we will announce the results at least four or five days before the GCET or immediately after, as we do not want the GCET performance of these students to be affected because of their Class XII scores,"

The Goa Board does not want to announce the results closer to the GCET dates, but would not mind declaring them closer to the NEET as it is expecting that the aspirants for medicine and dentistry seats, being the cream of the students, are unlikely to score poorly in Class XII and therefore get affected by a poor score.

Class XII exams saw 12,694 regular students and 540 repeater students registering for the exam, taking the total to 13,234.

Students of Class X and XII will be marked with grades as well as marks at this year's public exam of the Goa Board too, after it was felt that providing marks was essential for students seeking admissions to national institutes.
