Karnataka Unaided Private Engg Colleges To Follow Own Fee Structure

K'taka Engg Colleges -Own Fee Structure
Colleges in Karnataka are all set for the Admission Process for the academic year 2013-14. Based on the delay made by the Government to announce the seat matrix and fee structure for all professional courses, the unaided Private Engineering Colleges "seem to be upset".

Writing to the Government, these private unaided colleges have demanded that their affiliated colleges would follow its own fee structure for the upcoming academic year. They said, every college will be charging a fee based on the cost incurred by the Management per student.

The State Government was to finalize the seat matrix and fee structure for these colleges by 10th of April, 2013, which is being delayed for more than a week. The report says that, there was an announcement made by the minister of Higher Education that a fresh fee structure will be provided to the private institutions for the upcoming academic year.

These colleges have been waiting for the notification all these days. They are all set to start with the admission process as early as possible. But, the notification regarding the new fee structure has brought the Engineering colleges under pressure, as they are in need to pay salaries to lecturers and professors in accordance with the 6th pay commission recommendations, which amounts to a very substantial number.

The students who are eager for their admissions are also waiting for the fee structure. A student says "We require the fee structure because the colleges are not providing us any guidelines on what will be the fee structure for engineering courses".

These professional colleges are in extreme situation because, the fee collected from the students is the only source of revenue for them. Moreover, the Government has not made it clear if the colleges would consider the scores of JEE Main or Comedk for the Admissions. Hence, these colleges have decided to consider eight out of two and start with their admission process very soon.
