How to crack Architecture entrance exams
A large number of engineering colleges are offering B.Tech/ B.E degree courses but the colleges offering architecture degree course are comparatively very less. While more than 19 lakhs engineers are produced every year only 4500 architects are registered in the country till Dec 2012.

There is an estimated shortage of 7 lakh architects in the country. With expanding global economics, rising incomes, mass migration of people from rural to urban areas as a result of mass transport systems available, the demand on architecture has increased manifolds.

Around 303 engineering colleges offers architecture courses across the country and admissions to these is based on aptitude tests. The syllabus and pattern of the test are prescribed by the Council of Architecture.

JEE for B.Arch:
The JEE is an all india level entrance exam for both Engineering and Architecture streams. It comprises of separate question patterns and structure for both the streams.

The JEE pattern for B.Arch/B.Planning comprises of three parts, part 1 consists questions from mathematics and part 2 contains aptitude type questions and part 3 contains drawing and sketching. Follow the syllabus and prepare for exam.

In includes questions in testing the studnets attitudes regarding people, place and environment. It is a 3 hours examination. It is conducted by CBSE in India.

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA):
National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is an entrance exam for admission to undergraduate courses in Architecture (B.Arch). NATA is conducted by National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA), which is a body of Council of Architecture, New Delhi. NATA is an most significant and compulsory entrance for architecture aspirants.

NATA test paper contains 2 papers with 3 hours of time duration. It measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and crititcal thinking ability, that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to specific field of study.

Many coaching centres are providing expert coaching for IIT and B.Tech, but very few experts are available for architecture entrance examinations. Only qualified and experienced architects can provide coaching and guidance.
