SriLankan students in India under threat
A nationalist movement, The Ravana Balaya movement in Sri Lanka warns that the Sri lankan students studying in India in various universities are vulnerable of being attacked by the Indian extremists.

Convener of the movement, Ven. Ittakande Saddhatissa Thero said that some extremist elements in India are planning to attack Sri Lankan students.

 

He explained that the students would be attacked by inciting Tamil students in the universities against Sri Lanka.

According to Ven, the organization will inform the Indian government and the Sri Lankan high commissioner in India about threats and request to provide security measures to the Sri lankan students.

But, Indian government deny the attacking of sri lankan students in India. We haven't received any complaint on this issue of attacking the Sri Lankan students. If any complaints comes from the students, we will take further action on the culprits.

Union Minister of State for PMO, V Narayanaswamy on Wednesday, said that the Sri Lankan High Commissioner should function within the frame work of his powers and should infirm his view to the Government of India.

He was responding to the reporters at a press conference on the reported e-mails from lankan High commissioner to India seeking support for sri lankan students on Wednesday. The minister said he did not know the full details about the e-mails.

Earlier, Narayanaswamy asked students to withdraw the agitation over the Lankan Tamil issue as the centre was doing everything possible for tamils in the island nation.
