Guru Kalamandalam performs at KIIT Gurgaon

Gurgaon 21st March 2013- KIIT Group of Colleges in association with Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) has recently organised a Kathakali dance performance in the institute campus.The performance was headed by world famous Kathakali artiste guru Kalamandalam Kuttan Ashan along with his group.

Guru Kalamandalam Kuttan Ashan has contributed to Kathakali for more than thirty years now and he has also been awarded by Sangeet Natak Academy Award and Kerela Kalamandalam award for his commendable contribution to Indian classical dance.

Addressing the Programme Mr. B.R. Kamrah, Chairman, KIIT said that such cultural programmes are necessary as equal to academics. Students and faculty members get a refreshed state of mind from studies in form of entertainment.we are honored to have the presence of such renowned artist among us and perform for us.

It is to be mentioned here that SPIC MACAY is a movement to root in cultural heritage of the country among the youths. The event was conducted and managed by cultural and sports club of IIM Raipur along with SPIC MACAY.

Post dance drama event marked a session of question and answer in which students asked their queries related to the dance forms which were answered by Appa Kuttan Nair, manager of the dance group.
