A colourful day at The Sagar School

February 13: Over 1600 students from Tijara and nearby places spent a few wonderful hours at The Sagar School to take part in the- on- the spot- painting competition. The chief guest for the event was Padmashree Anjolie Ela Menon, renowned artist of international standing. The guest of honour was Ms. Preeti Jain who is an educational mentor and is associated with The Sagar School in the Heritage project.

The school became a veritable canvas as beautiful colours were splashed on drawing sheets with the imagination and creativity that is the hallmark of every child. Intricate sketches were etched on the given topics as the children interpreted them and gave wings to their thoughts and shape in the form of art.

Some of the inspiring themes were: My family, My favourite toy and A garden scene. The students of Classes 3rd and 4th expressed themselves on the themes of favourite festivals, sports and dreams. The inspiring themes for the middle school students were: A market scene, My India and Save water. Thoughtful topics were also given to the senior students like: Developing India, My first rail journey and Save Tiger. There was also a category for special children for mentally and physically challenged children. They were given topics like: My house, A rainy day and My favourite flower.

The Sagar Foundation under the skilled guidance of the Director, Ms. Sharmistha Julka , organized the whole event and kept the children fortified with refreshments as they energetically drew and painted under the pandal specially put up for them.

Earlier in the morning, the children were taken to the chosen venues and divided into categories according to their classes. The entries were judged by: Ms. Rati Singh from Shri Ram school, Ms.Shibani Khullar from Step by Step school and Mr. Manish Rao from Nirmal Bharti School.

Apart from dabbling in colours the children were enthralled by the magic show presented by Mr. Vijay. The prize winners were exuberant and delighted. Ms. Anjolie Ela Menon expressed happiness at this wholehearted participation and also gave the children some useful tips and suggestions. The Director Ms. Sharmistha Julka also praised the efforts of the students. The following students have been declared the best in their respective categories: Palak Garg, Komal Kumari, Sadhna, Jyoti Sharma and Chunmun Gopal from the special category. The event was a huge success organized under the guidance of the Principal, Lt Col (Retd) Rattanbir Singh. The vote of thanks was given by Ms. Amarjyot Kaur, the coordinator of The Sagar Foundation.
