Karnataka accepts CMAT scores for MBA
The Karnataka state Government decided to scrap the PGCET (Postgraduate Common Entrance Test) for Management programmes admissions across the state from 2013. Now, state Govt decided that only CMAT scores will be considered for admission in post graduate MBA management programmes in All AICTE approved institutions and Universities from 2013-14 onwards.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi conducts the Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) for admissions to the Management programmes to all AICTE affiliated colleges.

Only those students who have CMAT scores are eligible for pursuing MBA programmes. CMAT is the only test for admission in MBA programmes in AICTE approved institutions and University Departments in the State. All students pursuing MBA admissions in AICTE approved institutions and State Universities shall have to be registered for CMAT 2013-14.

According to the sources form the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) confirmed that the only CMAT scores are accepted for admission to the MBA management programmes across the state.

All the aspiring candidates should have to register for the CMAT entrance exam from 2013-14. AICTE will conduct the CMAT exam twice a year, in which candidates can register for both the time. The best score of the two exams will be considered for the admissions. AICTE will release the merit list of CMAT and will be used for the allotment of seats for the academic year 2013-14.

The CMAT Feb 2013 registration has been closed, so aspirants have to wait for the September notification for register to the CMAT exam.

Presently AICTE is conducting the CMAT in three centres in Karnatka are in Bangalore, Mysore and Gulbarga. "Till this academic year, PGCET was conducted by the Visvesvayara Technological University and the seat allotment process and counseling carried by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA)", said a senior official.

Further, Karnataka Examinations Authority may take all necessary action to comply with the directions of AICTE in this regard.

With the latest addition, the states that have already notified CMAT as the official exam for their state university MAB Programs are: Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Haryana and Karnataka.
