The Common Admissions Test (CAT) for the year 2013 is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore for admissions to Management programmes for the year 2013-14. The decision was taken in a meeting held between all the IIM Directors on Saturday, Feb 02, 2013.

The CAT 2013 notification will be announced in the month of September 2013 by IIM Indore. CAT 2013 is expected to be more tougher this year as per the one of the IIM directors. The test will be conducted by IIM Indore.

 

The CAT is an all India entrance test for admission to the IIM's and other reputed institutions across the country. The new entries in 2011 included six IIT's, Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University and Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.

The test is designed to evaluate the management aptitude of a students bybtesting his analytical and communication skills. It demands up to three to four months of intense preparation. The test is open for all graduates.

A report on how IIMs are leading the way in the recruitment process reflects the confidentiality and credibility of the cat exam conducted every year. The IIM directors are striving to improve the quality of the test further. Moreover, they are alo trying to make CAT completely technical glitch free.

The IIM admission committee allots the task of conducting CAT every year to a different IIMs. The test is conducted by the IIMs Based on the rotation policy.

CAT 2013 pattern:
The test comprises of two sections that are separately timed. Each of the sections will be held for 70 minutes (1 hour and 10 minutes). It consists of 30 questions in each section.

The sections are:

  • Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
  • Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning.

Once a section ends, aspirants can no longer go back to it. Aspirants will be presented with the section on Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation first, followed by Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. Candidates will be given 15 minutes tutorial before the commencement of the main exam.
