Touching new border at Jaipur Literature Festival

Five students from the Sagar School were selected to represent the school at the Jaipur literary fest-2013. This festival is a prestigious annual event and was organized by the Tehelka Foundation. Puneeta Roy, the founder trustee and the motivational force behind the event kept everyone on their toes busy with a number of activities as a part of the YOUNG ADULT workshop.

This year the theme of the workshop was- MYSELF, MY WORLD- A SEARCH FOR IDENTITY. The participants who were around 80 in number were from various elite schools and some underprivileged students from NGO's. Sharing their experiences after participating in this very enriching workshop our students-ADITYA BHASIN, ISHA HAWAIBAM, RAJEEV GUPTA, ABHIPSA PANDA AND ABHISHEK SHARMA- recounted how all of them were urged and motivated to break down their individual barriers and talk about the various circles of influence in a person's life. As the students moved out of their comfort zones, other aspects like family, community and the whole universe - were also included in their discussions and activities.

A beautiful bonding took place amongst the students which was aptly aided by theatre, music, art and creative writing. Thus the workshop became a thriving, pulsating hub of role plays, mimes, street plays, prayer flags, wind chimes, models and paintings. Also interacting with the students from the less privileged lot our students could relate to the problems resulting from child marriage and bonded labour.

The students also had sessions with eminent people like-CHRISTOPHER LLYOD, BINAYAK AND ILINE SEN, M.A. FAROOQI AND SONAM DORJI. Thus this five day trip to Jaipur served as a very enriching experience for the students and they have returned as better and enlightened individuals.
