Professor.Ashok Banerjee, who is the dean, new initiatives and external relations of IIMC said "By this IIM Calcutta will be able to offer a Masters in International Management (MIM) course, which is one of CEMS and also the most coveted programmes for students. IIMC will also be able to expand its global footprint".
CMES which was known as 'Confederation of European Management Schools' but the terminology changed when it decided to open its doors to elite B-schools outside Europe. CEMS which at present includes around 28 academic institutions from Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia has more than 70 corporates and some non-governmental organizations too.
To name a few members of CEMS, includes the London Schools of Economics, HEC France, Essade Spain, HKUST Hong Kong and Richard Ivy from Cannada and more. According to Professor.Ashok Banerjee students selected for the programme will be receiving both a PGDM degree from IIM-Calcutta and MIM Degree from CEMS.
He said "Our main focus area is on the internationalisation of our institute and we are proud to announce that we aer the only business school in India to partner p with CEMS to offer an MIM Programme".
Please note: Students who begin in the academic year 2013 will be eligible for this new course. Based on the agreement, we will have three year exclusively with CMES in India. Our students will be able to study in the best global institutes and in exchange, students there will be coming to IIM Calcutta, he explained.
