MBA Aspirants To Face 5 More Entrance Exams

The entrance exams for the management courses like MBA, PGDM for aspirants is far from over. There is a 5 entrance exams are lined up in the next three months, following the closure of the CAT 2012 registrations. IIM Kozhikode conducted the CAT 2012 exam.

T G Param, Director, Triumphant Institute of Management Education said, "Unlike CAT, these exams may not be that intellectually taxing but, speed and hard work are critical to clearing them,"

The NMAT 2012 online entrance exam conducted by the Narsi Monji Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai will continue till December 19 after it opened on Oct 11. "The advantage of this test is that students can take three chances to clear the same," said Param.

The entrance exam for the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) is scheduled for Nov 11. This exam is especially for management courses offered in the field of rural and agri-business management. Even the entrance exam for the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is scheduled for Nov 25 for admission to its campuses in Delhi and Kolkata.

The Symbiosis International University (SIU) conducts national aptitude test SNAP on Dec 16. The SIU, by virtue of being a deemed university, offers an MBA programme unlike the other institutions that offer an equivalent course called the postgraduate diploma in management (PGDM), as they do not have a university status.

The Xavier Labour Research Institute conducts Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) o n Jan 06, 2013. It is widely regarded as equally difficult as CAT.

Lastly, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) conducts national Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for the year 2013-14 online form Feb 21 to 25. Registration process for the CMAT has already started from Nov 1 and will continue till Jan 2, 2013.

Param said, "The XAT is an exception among all these tests as it can be even difficult than CAT at times. However, most management aspirants find themselves adequately prepared for these tests on the basis of their preparation for the CAT, which is regarded as the mother of all entrance tests for management courses,"

He also said, "The difficulty level of questions in some of these tests may vary according to the requirements of the individual institutions. Similarly, some exams like IIFT, SNAP and CMAT have general knowlegde component,"
