No WBJEE 2013 Ranks For Negative Marks
The WBJEE (WestBengal Joint Entrance Examination Board) has decided to go with awarding ranks to all candidates, barring those students who have scored negative marks. The Board on Saturday declared that around 90,000 aspirants will be ranked from the academic year 2013 onwards.

And those candidates with negative marks in any of the papers like Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics shall be denied to reach out for ranks.

Baskar Gupta, the chairman of the WBJEE board said "Estimating the number of seats in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 30000 each, we have decided to keep the rank till 90,000. Till last year, every student was awarded a rank. From now on, only candidates scoring zero and above in every paper will be considered fit for a rank. No candidates with a negative score in any of these papers will be eligible for a rank. We have taken the decision with an aim to maintain quality of students in the Private Engineering colleges".

The Officials of Board also feel that this decision, to award ranks till 90,000 and only to those with positive marks in all subjects will also lessen court cases filed by students against the board after announcement of results. Moreover, the board had also decided to increase the total number of marks in Physics and Chemistry from 50 to 75. "Unlike last year, when these subjects were clubbed into a single paper. From 2013 Onwards these two exams shall be held separately, with the duration of 1 and half-hour each.

Mr.Gupta said that "the exams shall begin from 9:30 am instead of 9:am. Also, it was decided that mathematics examination will be the first paper with 100 marks. It will start at 9:30 am. Second paper shall be Physics between 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm and later followed by Chemistry from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
