IIT Student Gained Panasonic Scholarship
A student of IIT Madras, Chennai named Abhiram Railkar has gained a scholarship from Panasonic in order to pursue higher studies in Japan. The Minister for Education, Women and Child Department and Languages, Government of India, Kiran Walia presented the award at the ceremony held in New Delhi.

This programme was taken as a part of the 2013 Panasonic Scholarship Programme, Railkar will be given a strong financial support of Rs. 1,50,000 yen per month (Approx Rs.1,00,784) starting from April 2013, as tuition fee for the first year. For the next two years, the grant will be increased to 180,000 yen per month (Approx of Rs.1,21,181) besides the tuition fees.

Abhiram Railkar is one of the four scholars selected for the scholarship and is a B.Tech Mechanical Engineering graduate. He is all set to pursue a Master's in Injury Prevention Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2013.

He says "The Panasonic Scholarship Programme was advertised widely through my institution, and I came to know of the same. I decided to apply with the project I had wielded in my Undergraduate Programme based on Modelling of Human Body with regards to shock and vibration resistance. "

"In a nutshell, it deals with the extent to which humans can adapt to shock and vibration" he added.
