Use of 'Tobacco' is another problem in today's society. Recently a few teachers were warned against use of tobacco in classrooms as well as in the campus. This has lead towards the ban of Tobacco in all the Education Institutions all over the state Tamil Nadu.

In the Coming days around in the month of December, all education institutes in Tamil Nadu would become 'Tobacco Free area'. Yes, the director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine RT Porkaipandian, recently wrote to authorities in Bharathiar University, asking them to take steps to ensure that the provisions of anti-tobacco rules were implemented in all affiliated colleges by December.

RT Porkaipandian said, "We have written to all public and private universities in the State and school education Department asking them to take steps to declare all educational institutions as tobacco free by December". "Tobacco is the most common preventable cause in the country and was identified as the main risk factor for a number of chronic diseases, including cancer, lung diseases and cardiovascular diseases", he noted.

Talking to Express over phone, P Vadivelan, Joint Director of Public Health said, "Our main objective is to prevent the youth from using tobacco products". Meanwhile, the Coimbatore City Police have cracked down on those selling tobacco products near educational institutions and booked recently booked three people on Saturday.

Well, its your choice now. Shouldn't we outlaw the leading killer? Not at all. Tobacco should not only be banned in Schools and Colleges but all around the state. Tobacco must be banned by roots.
