The Inter-University Consortium, is now responsible for bringing the university up to speed with the latest methods and technology for distance learning, which is organized as a three-day programme for IGNOU teachers on "Multimedia E-Content Development".
The participants were advised to start applying the skills acquired through the training. The teachers were taught the use of open-source (and therefore, freely available) to generate E-Content available in different formats; said Prof.Gopinath Pradhan, the Vice Chancellor of IGNOU.
The participants were taught the principles of instructional design (ID) for e-content, e-content scripting and script finalization, exeLearn components, preparation of audio and video components using any video convertor, mobile recording device, digital camera, exeLearn collaboration with other learning platforms such as Modle, SCORM 1.2, Webpage (HTML), single text, iPod Notes and single directory pages too.
A participant of this programme said "As a person who is not well-versed with technology, the programme and use of open source tools were quite beneficial. It was helpful in incorporating multimedia in Learning". Professor Madhu Prahar, Director of IGNOU, in-charge of this programme enumerated some of the objectives of the IUC. These include developing android-based applications as well as mobile-based applications for learning.
