The Guidance Centers will encourage and help tribal students prepare for UPSC examinations. The government has made a provision of Rs 5 crore to accommodate student in the centres to be set up at Thane, Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, Amravati and Mumbai.
"The government officials from class one and two are recruited by the state public service commission and IAS, IPS and AFS are recruited by UPSC. However, due to lack of awareness the tribal students rarely appear for these exams.
There is a need for special coaching, "reads an official note. The government has directed its tribal commissioner to request private training institutes to accommodate tribal students. The governor of Maharashtra has also requested vice chancellors of universities to help students get better training and accommodation.
The government says although there are institutes such as YASHADA and SIAC where tribal students arrive to take training. However, the limited budget on offer by way of tribal development schemes does not satisfy needs of every student.
