In a meeting with controller of examination of all the 14 state universities and other higher officials, it was proposed that from 2013 the universities would conduct all their undergraduate part 3 exams between march 15 and May 15, so the common admission test for admission to postgraduate courses could be held in June.
It has been proposed that the Higher education council will conduct the common admission test and all state universities and government aided colleges will use the score obtained fro admission in their PG Programmes.
Phalguni Mukherjee, Joint Secretary of the state higher education council said, "Today we got the academic calender of all universities. The feedback from all the state is that holding undergraduate part 3 exam between March and May isn't impossible".
"We want to hols the entrance exam with in 3 weeks of completion of the undergraduate exam. The level of preparation for undergraduate exams would be enough for students appearing for the admission test", Mukherjee said.
The entrance exam marking pattern format if different universities would be different, it has been proposed that all universities would give their marks of results in percentile format.
Mukherjee also said, "We will now work on these proposals and would convene a meeting with vice chancellors of all the state universities. By January, the picture would become clearer, and if everything goes according to plan, we hope to hold the common admission test for admission to PG courses from 2013".
Once the academic calender fro part 3 exam is in place, the higher education council would work towards deciding the academic calender fro part 1 & 2 fro undergraduate courses offered by all state universities.
