BU To Cancel 120 M.Ed Mgmt Seats
Bangalore University has decided to cancel the 120 M.Ed seats under management quota in 7 colleges for the academic year 2012-13 die to irregularities.

In the meeting of BU Academic council, the task force constituted by the university pointed out the irregularities. The council unanimously decided to put hold on the admission process in these colleges and they have sent a notice to the colleges in this regard.

Admission to the following colleges for the academic year 2012-13 will take place only for the university quota students and colleges will be given 6 months time to rectify the lapses.

The Colleges are:

  • Vijaya Teachers College, Jayanagar.
  • Gold Field College of Education, Bangarpet.
  • St Paul's M.Ed College, Vijayanagar.
  • Smt Mehra's College of Education, Banaswadi.
  • SJES College of Education, Virgo Nagar.
  • Bangalore City College of Education, Kalyan Nagar.
  • JIET Post Graduate Studies & Research in Education, Bannerghatta Main Road.

Karan Kumar, Chairman, Task Force and an Academic Council member, "Counseling process fro admission to M.Ed courses under Bangalore University will begin on Sept 04, 2012. Since the management quota seats are cancelled this year, around 120 seats will not be available for the M.Ed course".

The students, who will be taken through university quota in these 7 colleges, will be taught directly under the varsity.

Prabhu Dev, Vice Chancellor said, "Till the time these college get back inline, the varsity will take care of the space and guest faculty for the students. If the college don't correct the irregularities within 6 months, these colleges will be disaffiliated".

R Karuna Moorthy, a member said, "The task force should be ratified by the syndicate, which is the highest authority in this case. We need to know the powers given to the committee. There is a hidden agenda to target only B.Ed and M.Ed colleges".
