The programme would be effective from the following academic year, meritorious students from Under privileged backgrounds will be selected and sent to a foreign country for one full semester. This scheme is developed for postgraduate students and teachers from the government science and arts colleges.
The Minister of Higher Education P.Palaniappan, on speaking about the 'Study Abroad' program stated that 5 teachers and 25 students will be benefited in the first batch. The colleges have been directed by the minister to furnish preparatory lists for the program by the end of August.
In addition, the minister also announced the commencement of admission in the 11 new science and arts colleges that were launched earlier this year. Moreover, the colleges in the state have also initiated over 250 new courses, increasing the study options for students.
Moreover, the council has also discussed on introducing Tamil in all four semesters o Undergraduate courses and making the admission process more transparent. The decision regarding the same will soon be made.
