CBSE To Come Up With PSA
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi to come up with Problem solving Assessment (CBSE-PSA) from the upcoming session for Class 9 and Class11 students from second term 2012-13.

There is no specific syllabus for the CBSE-PSA, it will assess students in the following areas:

 
  • Quantitative Reasoning
  • Qualitative Reasoning
  • Language Conventions.

CBSE-PSA is compulsory for the students of Class 9 and Class 11, which is likely to be conducted during the month of Jan-Feb 2013. CBSE-PSA carries 90 marks among which 60 questions will be based on MCQ. There is no separate time table or periods for teaching or practice of PSA in schools.

Vineet Joshi, Chairman, CBSE said, "It is a widely acknowledged fact that research and analytical skill, ability to apply basic concepts of different subjects, solve application based problems in Mathematics and Science, comprehend and analysis written text and effective communication are the skills, which ensure success in higher studies and professional areas".

He also said,"These dimensions of 21st century life skills will assist learners in acquiring higher order thinking skills such as problem solving and decision making".
