The Second National Conference on Networking, Embedded and Wireless Systems (NEWS-2012) is a two day, biennial event organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore.

The origin of this conference is traced back to the First National Conference on Networking, Embedded and Wireless Systems (NEWS-2010) conducted during Jul-Aug.2010. The objective of this conference is to provide a unique and niche platform for Researchers, Academia and Industry to share their Research experience in domains including Networking, Embedded and Wireless communication systems which, together, constitute the theme of the conference.

About forty peer reviewed Research publications are being presented during this two day (3rd and 4th Aug. 2012) conference by authors from varied educational institutions, Research establishments and industry. Additionally, the conference involved invited talks from distinguished experts from world class educational institutions, Research institutions and from the industry.

The NEWS-2012 conference was inaugurated by Dr.Ajit T Kalghatgi, Chief Scientist, Central Research Laboratory, Bharat Electronics Limited. While Prof.D.Seshachalam, Chairman, NEWS-2012 provided the welcome address to the conference, Prof.Mallikharjuna Babu, Principal, BMS College of Engineering graced the occasion. Prof.B.S.Nagabhushana provided a brief note on the journey which has led to the successful deployment of NEWS-2012 conference. Prof.D.Seshachalam, Prof.B.Kanmani and Prof.B.S.Nagabhushana, collectively, expressed their vision and showed utmost interest and also confidence in navigating NEWS-2012 conference into an international event during its third deployment as NEWS-2014 during Jul-Aug.2014.

Prof.Mallikharjuna Babu reciprocated with an assured total support from the Management for organizing NEWS-2014 conference as an international event. He also said that this vision, very closely, matches with the core values of BMS Educational Trust which believes in Knowledge and its dissemination being the key to the overall national growth on a global arena. The inauguration of NEWS-2012 was followed by an invited technical talk from Prof.Joy Kuri, Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (formerly CEDT), Indian Institute of Science who spoke on the algorithmic development to enhance internet performance along with a specific case study.

The second invited technical talk was from Prof.S.Balasubramanian, Former Professor of BITS, Pilani, who spoke on the evolution of LTE (Long Term Evolution) which is the global standard for the fourth generation of cellular communications. These invited talks shall be followed by parallel sessions of Technical presentations during which the Research work of all the submitted papers shall be presented by the respective authors.
