PG Dental Counselling Conducted Again
The Karnataka High Court with concern to the ComedK (Consortium of Medical Engineering and dental Colleges-Karnataka) has directed to conduct fresh counselling for PG Dental Courses. A petition was filled by Dentist Dr.Riya Mariam Raju and a fellow dentist against Comedk for not allowing them to attend PG Dental counselling because the demand drafts brought by them were not from a nationalized banks and few did not bring original certificates.

The High Court accepted the petition stating that it is the duty of the system to respect preferences and meritorious candidates. The court also stated that the admissions should be based on merit. The judge expressed that all the petitioners have secured ranks in the top 600 and if banks fail to put seals or signatures on the counterfoils, students cannot be blamed or responsible for this.

The students cannot be held responsible for not recognizing the nationalized banks as the advocates who were present in the court themselves could not say if Karur Vysya Bank is nationalized or not, he added. But, the Authorities did not know that the Bank of Maharashtra is a nationalized bank.
