Haryana Not Hiring Teachers On Contract
On appointment of teachers, Haryana has come across a decision that teachers will no longer be selected on Contractual basis. The Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal said that “the Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Honda ordered that appointment of teachers would be made on regular basis and not on contractual basis in the state”.

She said “The chief minister had given approved for the amendment in the Haryana Education Rules in this regard and this would be notified soon. About 15,000 teachers would be appointed by the government to provide quality education to students in the state. Now they all would be appointed on regular basis”.

The earlier notification which was issued in this regard said 'The posts in the Department of secondary Education shall be filled in contract basis, initially for one year which may be extendable on year-to-year basis'. In-turn the contractual teachers were also given fixed emoluments and no additional benefits.

She said the Government had also approved deletion the clause in the notification of Haryana Education Rules under which women teachers were barres from joining duty if they were more than 12 weeks pregnant. Now onwards, there would be no such bar for pregnant women for joining service as teachers, she said.

Based on the earlier provisions, the selected women candidate had to submit a certificate of her fitness from a civil surgeon. In case she was pregnant beyond 12 weeks then she used to stand temporarily unfit till the confinement period was over.

However, as per the latest decision of the government, the women in such condition can also join like other candidates.
