The satellite campus at Kochi is intended to directly help executives at the park to hone their management skills, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the Indian IT sector and boost the IT sector growth of the state. This satellite centre will offer an one year executive MBA programs as well as two year part time program in addition to a large number of short duration management development programmes.
It also supports IIM-K's mission of inclusive education as a finishing school with specialised programs for people belonging to the marginalized sections of the society. IIM Kozhikode's Kochi camous will accommodate a couple hundreds of students.
The Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode which was started in 1996 as the fifth institute of Management in India, at present has a maximum intake of around 261 students. The facility inside the Infopark is expected to be functional by October 2012 and is expected to commence its courses before the end of the year 2012.
This Infopark campus of the IIM K would have its own separate Dean, although it will be the IIM-Director who will be calling the final shots. A portion of the faculty will be stationed at the new campus and the rest would be shared between the campuses of Kozhikode and Kochi.
The Kochi Infopark, is spread across 100 acres and has more than 100 companies with head offices or branch offices in it, employing more than 18,000 IT professionals . The new campus would be funded by the IIM-Kozhikode with no involvement from the State Government.
