In the existing system, stduents apply in more than one college for admission in M.tech course. But in the new system, candidates ill submit one entrance exam form and admission will be done entirely on the basis of merit-cum-choice of the entrance examination.
The decision was taken during a board meeting held on March 30 and will be implemented from upcoming session onwards. The Vice Chancellor of RTU RP Yadav said “This decision will felicitate fairness and transparency in the system”.
These colleges have more than 2000 seats. So far, admission and classes in these colleges are not uniform due to lack of centralized admission process. Under the new system, 70% weightage in final marks will be from scores in GATE and Bachelor's exams. The last date for submitting admission forms is in second week of June. Counselling will begun in the second week of July and the academic session starts from end of July.
With an aim to produce well-groomed engineers, the RTU has also decided to introduce compulsory workshops and seminars on communication skills and professional ethics to sensitize students about global working standards.
