JKPS - JK Padampat Singhania Institute of Management and Technology, & JKBS - JK Business School Gurgaon organized two days International Conference on Creativity & Innovation: “Breaking the barriers to reach the bottom of the pyramid at Chinmaya Mission Auditorium, New Delhi. Dr Ashwani Kumar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Planning Commission, Science & Technology & Earth Science, inaugurated the conference. The speakers were Mr Malwinder Singh Chairman, FORTIS Group, Sunil kant Munjal Chairman Hero Corporate Service, Mr YK Modi, Chairman & CEO Great Estern Energy Corpn.ltd, Mr Simon Roberston, MD India, R &D Centre NSETLE (SA), Dr Devi Singh Director IIM Lucknow and many more from Industry.

On this occasion, Shri Govind Hari Singhania, Chairman JK Education Foundation said “ The Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP) is being heralded as the biggest potential opportunity in the history of commerce and, at the same time, a troubling future discontinuity for many incumbent players. The BOP concept champions new thinking and new ways of doing business in the world’s poor markets. This conference has come up with many suggestions emerged out from the discussion in these two days and has also provide a learning platform to the business management students.”

The conference created a forum both for practitioners and academicians for exchanging and sharing the repository of knowledge so that innovations can flow from classroom to shop floor and vice-versa. These two days were designed in seven technical sessions on different sub themes. Strategic thinkers/CEO’s of more than ten companies had very kindly consented to be the speakers of sessions and discussed on developing source of ideas at workplace, Explored models and techniques for developing thinking habits among employees to improve effectiveness, Learn overcoming negativity and other obstacles to creativity at workplace, Understand techniques for generating new ideas,
solving problems and making decisions, Understand and analyze models for putting ideas into action—with successful results Develop strategies to Reach BOP.

More than 100 quality research papers and case studies had been received from all over the world on the themes of Understanding and developing conceptual base of effective innovation and creativity, The innovation and creativity process, Models of creative thinking, Turning ideas into reality, Developing innovative thinkers, Innovative thinking and decision-making, Contemporary issues in problem solving, Overcoming mental blocks, self-defeating habits and other innovation stiflers, Innovation and creativity in business practices, Fostering a creative and innovative workplace, environment, Case studies on innovative organizations, Innovation and societal upliftment , Creativity in classroom & innovation for inclusive education, Innovation and governance at National level, micro financing, social enterprise.

Realizing that innovation is the engine for the growth of prosperity and national competitiveness in the 21st century; the President of India has declared 2010 as the ‘Decade of Innovation’
