Most of the centres claimed that students had come either without their photographs or photostat of their ID proofs. The parents are students argued that COMDEK has not mentioned that students were required to carry an original identity proof. Majority of candidates were barred from taking the exam were from other states.
Students were not happy with exam authorities decision to bar students from appearing in the exam. Many students had to suffer inconvenience due to the confusion created. However, COMDEK authorities claimed that it is an understood fact that one has to carry a proper ID proof while appearing for exams or for voting. The students failing to submit the required documents could not have been allowed to write the exam. They also clarified that re-exam will be conducted for the barred students and they will have to wait for COMDEK 2013 exam.
Around, 4072 applicants had applied for COMDEK 2012 from Karnataka while 14346 from those outside Karnataka. Nearly 12909 students had applied for medical and 5509 for dental courses. The COMDEK test was conducted at 27 centres in Bangalore and nearly 16593 candidates appeared for the exam.
