However AFMC will be conducting online admissions this year, from 2013 onwards the institute has decided to scrap off its entrance exam. This year AFMC entrance exam is scheduled to be held on May 6, 2012.On the 50th Armed Forces Medical Research Committee Meeting and 60th conference of Medical Forces the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DG-AFMS) revealed that the MBBS programme will commence in the month of August and admissions for the course will be held online.
Before, AFMC raised objections in accepting NEET for admissions to the medical courses as they have certain criteria for selecting students in armed forces. Despite the institute, will continue conducting its own aptitude test for the students qualifying NEET and opting for AFMC.
The General Director of AFMS expressed that, “the Medical Council of India (MCI) has added more number of seats to post graduate (PG) courses so that they can create large number of specialists. He also added that various nursing colleges offering diploma courses will now offer degree programmes.
The discussion was also arranged among the academic committee where they discussed about various issues including evaluation methods of training and teaching efficiency and how to measure the objectives. “The Medical Research Committee will evaluate 167 award winning projects and research proposals on the topics such as compatibility in aircraft cockpit and anthropometric changes related to age in air crew and others” added the General Director of AFMS.
