Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), the largest Open University and the fifth largest University in the world was established in 1985, has contributed significantly to the development of higher education in the country . It holds a membership as the member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) . IGNOU has played a vital role in the establishment of Distance Education Council (DEC) which is responsible for setting up standards in distance Education in India .

IGNOU Institute of Vocational Education and Training (IIVET) and Digital Empowerment Foundation has introduced a certificate course in ' Citizen Journalism and Citizen Media Leaders' . This course is specifically designed and prepared by professionals and experts of IGNOU people University as an online program for a duration of three months . This course provides training in New Media , Citizen Journalism and Empowerment to old & new generation of citizens .

Aim : To bring positive changes around them .
Mission : Is to provide knowledge and skills to actualize their visions for reporting and change for themselves and their communities in a period of just 3 months for 100 men, women and youths across the world .

Note : This training is a Instructor-led online type program and target audience are the Citizens of India with no age barrier .
