Admission begins for Jr Maharashtra Colleges

For those students applying to juniour Maharashtra Colleges, parents are caught in the dilemma of filling College preference forms after the Maharashtra government had sent out a information booklet.

As per the new rules, students are required to choose the college based on three criteria –Region (Mumbai Metropolitan Region), Zone and finally the Ward. However, a student cannot repeat the name of the same college twice.

The students can write their preference of at least 15 colleges under Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), 15 colleges under the zone and 5 colleges of their choice under the ward section.

With these new criteria in effect, the parents as well as students have become worried about the final outcome of this process for admissions. It is assumed that with this rule many students may end up getting an admission to a college which they are not nterested in.

However, the admission Schedule for Juniour colleges in Maharashtra is mentioned below:

• Submission of online Application forms – 22 June to 7 July, 2011
• First bifocal merit list (Science & Commerce) – 12 July,2011 at 5 pm
• Second bifocal merit list – 18 July at 5 pm
• 1st general merit list – 22 July at 5 pm (Fee Payment - 23 to 27 July, 2011)
• Second general merit list – 1 August, 2011 at 5 pm (Fee Payment – August 2 to 4 August 2011)
• Third and final general merit list – 8 August at 5 pm (Fee Payment – 9 and 10 August, 2011)
• Admissions to minority/ in –house quota - 27 June to 7 July, 2011.
