Last year, BMCRI took away 63 of the top 100 rank holders from the general merit, while this year it is 52. 12 students in the top 100 ranks did not turn up for a seat. For the rest, the pick had to be from among various medical colleges in the city. Mysore Medical College was the next best option, with 17 of them choosing seats there. 5 of them opted for Karnataka Medical College, Hubli, 4 for MS Ramaiah Medical College and 3 for Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore.
However, the medical counselling for medical seats has been extended by two days. The number of medical aspirants have increased who are eligible for the process.About, 12,537 students were eligible this year as compared to 5,783.
But, the seat selection for Ayurveda, Unani, Naturopathy and Yoga courses scheduled for 23 and 24 June 2011 has been withheld, as many Colleges are yet to get a clean chit or recognition. The central government has to recognize all the colleges by July/August. But, this year the counselling has began early for Medical,so many Colleges are waiting for the approval.
